Getting in and around the USA Millions of foreigners travel to USA every year for a range of reasons including business and pleasure. As a result there are systems in place which make getting around the USA very easy for foreigners. Several international airports are located across the USA and a visa is not required if you are an Australian citizen staying for less than 90 days due to reasons other than work or study. If you are not an Australian citizen a visa may be required depending on your country of origin. If like many other foreign workers, you plan to work temporarily in the USA, there are certain conditions in place when applying for a visa. In order to obtain permanent relocation, direct applications must be issued with your local USA embassy or consulate. Prohibited Items
Like many countries, the USA prohibits visitors from bringing in items such as narcotics, drugs, incitements, plants, pornographic material, unprocessed furs, skins and fresh perishable foods such as meat and by-meat products. Any firearms acquired overseas require a “US alcohol, tobacco and firearms permit” before entering the USA. For a complete list of items it is advised that one should consult with a relocation provider or their local USA embassy.
Life in the USA
One of the world’s most ethnically diverse nations, the USA is home to over 300 million people. English is the official language; however Spanish is spoken by over 30 million residents. Multiculturalism is prevalent in the USA, a country which has one of the highest per capita immigration rates in the world. Consequently, it is no wonder that the USA prides itself on its racial diversity.
